Accidental Human Infections by Plasmodium Cynomolgi Bastianellii: a Serological and Clinical Study of Two Recent Cases
نویسنده
چکیده
The high susceptibility of normal humans, the strikingresemblance of the blood stages of P. cynomolgiand P. vivax, the low parasitaemia which has always been recorded in human cases, and the favourable evolution of this animal infection in man, .lead us to suspect Sero-immunological studies using two tests, a fluorescent antibody test and a cellulose acetate huno-electro-diffusion assay, were performed with 3 antigens; P.C. bastianelliì, P. falciparum and P. knowlesi. 8

Molecular epidemiology of mosquitoes for the transmission of forest malaria in south-central Vietnam
Human infection caused by non-human primate malarial parasites, such as Plasmodium knowlesi and Plasmodium cynomolgi, occurs naturally in Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. Members of the Anopheles dirus species complex are known to be important vectors of human malarial parasites in the forested areas of southern and central Vietnam, including those in Khanh Phu commune and Khanh Ho...
متن کاملOxidoreductases in early gestational monkey placenta during maternal malarial infection: histochemical localisation.
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Early gestational malaria is more deleterious than late gestational infection. Still the pathophysiology of maternofoetal organ--the placenta in malaria remains almost unexplored during early gestation. Present study dealing with oxidoreductases in early gestational placenta during maternal malarial infection of Plasmodium cynomolgi bastianellii in rhesus monkeys was ant...
متن کاملAntimalarial effects of human immunodeficiency virus protease inhibitors in rhesus macaques.
The antimalarial activity of the human immunodeficiency virus protease inhibitors indinavir and saquinavir was evaluated in rhesus macaques for the first time. Indinavir effectively suppressed the growth of Plasmodium cynomolgi and Plasmodium knowlesi in vivo after a 7- or 3-day treatment, respectively, with clinically relevant doses, whereas saquinavir showed only weak activity against P. cyno...
متن کاملEvolutionary relatedness of some primate models of Plasmodium.
Primate--and, specifically, monkey--malaria infections are commonly used for understanding the pathology of and immune response to the human disease because they are thought to resemble most closely the host-parasite relationship found in humans. Plasmodium cynomolgi is used extensively as a model for the human parasite, P. vivax, and P. knowlesi is used primarily as a model for the development...
متن کاملCorrelates of severity of disease in Macaca mulatta infected with Plasmodium cynomolgi
Characterization of host responses associated with severe malaria through an integrative approach is necessary to understand the dynamics of a Plasmodium cynomolgi infection. In this study, we conducted temporal immune profiling, cytokine profiling and transcriptomic analysis of five Macaca mulatta infected with P. cynomolgi. This experiment resulted in two severe infections, and two mild infec...
